Biography

Dr. Mudumbai earned his bachelor’s degree from the City University of New York.  He earned his medical degree through the BA/MD program of the City University of New York and the State University of New York Health Sciences Center. Following his internship in internal medicine at Winthrop University Hospital, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the State University of New York. He completed two fellowships. The first specializing in glaucoma at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and the second in neuro-ophthalmology, orbit, and oculoplastics from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Mudumbai lives in Seattle, Washington. His pastimes include soccer, running, and international politics.

Clinical interests

Dr. Mudumbai’s clinical interests include the medical and surgical care of cataract, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology and adult strabismus.

Research focus

Dr. Mudumbai’s research focus is on optic nerve imaging in both glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmic conditions. He also is interested in educational research that looks to improve resident training.
