Biography

Dr. Laura Huang was born and raised in Riverside, California. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) followed by a medical degree at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. She completed a preliminary medicine internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Stanford University. After her residency, she completed her sub-specialty training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the University of Washington.

Dr. Huang is a comprehensive pediatric ophthalmologist and strabismus surgeon with a special interest in pediatric uveitis. She sees patients and performs surgery at Seattle Children’s Hospital for children with a variety of eye conditions, such as strabismus, amblyopia, cataract, and uveitis. Additionally, she spends part of her time with both the uveitis department at the University of Washington and the rheumatology department at Seattle Children’s Hospital to help provide optimal care to children and their families impacted by ocular inflammatory disorders. In her free time, Dr. Huang enjoys traveling, cooking, scuba-diving, trying new restaurants, and exploring the outdoors with her husband and puppy.

Clinical interests

Dr. Huang specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus includiang amblyopia, nasolacrimal disorders, systemic diseases that affect the eyes, and pediatric cataract. She has a special interest in pediatric uveitis including infectious and inflammatory ocular diseases.

Research focus

Dr. Huang's research focus includes pediatric uveitis, cataract, and ocular imaging in addition to medical student/resident education within ophthalmology.
